amine, which is similar to an amphetamine. It is also known as an “anorectic” or “anorexigenic” drug. Phendimetrazine stimulates the central nervous system (nerves and brain), which increases your heart rate and blood pressure and decreases your appetite.

How it works:

This diet product is a acephenylalkylamine sympathomimetic amine, which is similar to an amphetamine. Phendimetrazine affects the user’s blood pressure and central nervous system. Basically, this diet drug aims to suppress the user’s appetite, which will lead to the consumption of fewer calories overall. Although there is not an official website for Phendimetrazine, this is actually a serious pharmaceutical drug that’s acquired with a doctor’s prescription.

Side Effects:

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with phendimetrazine. However, not everyone who takes the drug will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor. Common side effects include insomnia, sweating, headaches, dizziness, and high blood pressure. Physical dependence can also occur with prolonged use.

Effectiveness:

Most users report good initial results and side effects are moderate. Some users report adding calcium pryuvate 750mg 3 times a day along with your normal dosing makes a huge difference.

Side effects that may go away during treatment include restlessness, difficulty sleeping, nervousness, difficulty sleeping or dry mouth. Less common side effect reported were abdominal discomfort (G.I. disturbances), abnormal redness of the skin, blood pressure elevation, blurred vision, breast development in males, bruising, changes in sex drive, chest pain, constipation, depression, and diarrhea.

Effectiveness:

Tenuate works effectively as a short term appetite suppression drug as part of a managed weight loss program. Users report good results with manageable side effects. Again, this is a short term drug and not intended for long term use as dependency can result.

Xenical is pronounced: zen’ i-cal. It’s the brand name of the drug orlistat (pronounced, OR lih stat), a white to off-white crystalline powder. It was approved by the FDA April 23, 1999.

How it works:

When you eat fat, it’s broken down by enzymes called lipases so that your body can absorbed it. Xenical interferes with the activity of these enzymes temporarily, which blocks some of the fat you eat from being absorbed. This allows about 30% of the fat eaten to pass through the body undigested.

Xenical works only in the digestive system. It does NOT change your appetite. It blocks absorption of dietary fat into the bloodstream, thereby reducing the number of calories you get from a meal. At the usual dosage level, it cuts fat absorption by almost one-third.

Side Effects:

Normally, side effects disappear if you continue treatment and keep to your recommended diet. Don’t be alarmed by this list of side effects. You may not experience any of them. Most patients experienced only one episode. The most common side effects include abdominal discomfort or pain, and bloating and gas. In conjunction with using Xenical one must change dietary habits as continued ingestion of large amounts of fats will cause unwanted side effects as this drug blocks the absorption of fat. This can cause very unwanted side effects.

Effectiveness:

Overall users report Xenical effective for weight loss provided you are aware of the need to eliminate fats as much as possible. Cheating or not following a low fat diet will result in unpleasant situations where extra undergarments may be needed.

epitonin, ma huang, sida cordifolia, sinica
Chemically, ephedrine is a phenylpropanolamine, a class of stimulant compounds that include ephedrine, psuedoephedrine, norephedrine, and cathine. Ephedra (also known as Ma Huang), a traditional Chinese herb, contains varying concentrations of phenylpropanolamines and other alkaloids and is the primary source of ephedrine sold in most over the counter preparations. Ephedra has been in use for over 5000 years for its stimulant and antiasthmatic properties.

How it works:

One of the reasons ephedrine is such a powerful agent is that it operates through a variety of mechanisms, including increasing levels of norepinephrine, epinephrine, and dopamine, and stimulating both alpha and beta adrenoreceptors. Appetite suppression – Ephedrine (through facilitating the release of adrenaline and noradrenaline) stimulates the alpha(1)-adrenoreceptor subtype, which is known to induce hypophagia (appetite suppression. It is estimated that appetite supression accounts for 75-80% of the weight loss attributed to ephedrine.

Side Effects:

There are many side effects associated with ephedrine both real and imagined. Some of the most common are dry mouth, insomnia, and headaches, as well as anxiety, but all of these diminish with repeated use. The more serious side effects are exacerbated by the way ephedrine is commonly used – larger, acute doses at irregular intervals. Many people believe that ephedrine is not working if they can’t “feel” it, when the maximum thermogenic effect occurs only after tolerance to most of the other effects (such as anxiety, higher blood pressure, etc.) has developed.

Effectiveness:

Ephedrine has a long history for use in the medical community for treatment of asthma and other breathing disorders. While effective for loosing weight especially combined with caffeine and aspirin the downside is possible side effects derived from improper dosing by the individual who is not familiar with the compound(s) and their use. There are other options on the market that are better alternatives for safe weight loss.

Alli

Dosage: 60mg capsules
Alli is the reduced-strength version of orlistat (Xenical), a prescription drug to treat obesity. It’s approved for over-the-counter sale to overweight adults 18 years and older. Alli is meant to be used in conjunction with a low-calorie, low-fat diet and regular exercise.

How it works:

Alli promotes weight loss by decreasing absorption of fat by the intestines, which reduces the number of calories you absorb.
Lipase, an enzyme found in the digestive tract, helps break down dietary fat into smaller components, so it can be used or stored for energy. Alli works by disabling lipase, which prevents the enzyme from breaking down the fat while it’s in your digestive tract. The undigested fat continues through the intestines and is eliminated through bowel movements.
Alli is taken with fat-containing meals, up to three times a day. Because of how Alli works, it’s recommended that you eat no more than 15 grams of fat with each meal. Eating higher amounts of fat can cause unwanted effects, such as urgent bowel movements, diarrhea and gas with oily spotting.

Side Effects:

You may experience bowel changes when taking Alli. Ads and marketing materials refer to these changes as “treatment effects.” These side effects can include:
•	Gas with an oily anal discharge
•	Loose stools or diarrhea
•	More frequent bowel movements
•	Hard-to-control bowel movements
These bowel changes result from the undigested fat going through your digestive system. You can limit the side effects by eating a low-fat diet.

Effectiveness:

The effectiveness of Alli appears acceptable as long as the user understands there needs to be dietary changes in conjunction with the drug. As mentioned above, Alli blocks the absorbtion of fat. If one chooses to continue to eat fatty foods then the risk of unpleasant side effects is almost certain. With proper diet changes the drug is effective in helping subjects to lose weight. Understanding the drug alone will not work alone is key to it’s success.

How it works:

Meridia is a class of drug known as monoamine (serotonin and norepinephrine) re-uptake inhibitors. It falls in the same class of many anti- depressants such as Prozac. Serotonin is a chemical released in the brain after you have eaten a meal, which makes you feel full. Meridia acts to inhibit the reabsorption of serotonin so the that signal lasts longer, thus giving the sensation that you are full for a longer period of time. This method is thought to effectively reduce the caloric intake of an obese individual due to appetite suppression.

Side Effects:

The most commonly reported side effects include dry mouth, headache, constipation, and insomnia. The most troubling side effects include increase in blood pressure, heart rate, and abnormal heart rhythms (arrythmias) seen in some participants during clinical trials. However, most of these side effects were observed in participants who took large doses (more than 15 mg) of the drug

Effectiveness:

In the Knoll clinical studies, overweight patients on Meridia and a reduced calorie diet, in combination with lifestyle modifications, achieved an average of 5 to 10 percent weight reduction from their initial weight at various dosage levels. In one 12 month study, patients who took 10 mg of Meridia daily lost an average of 10 pounds, while those taking 15 mg daily lost an average of 14 pounds. The average weight loss in people on only a reduced calorie diet was 3.5 pounds. Study participants lost most of their weight in the first six months and maintained statistically significant weight losses for up to a year.

Rating:

Most users noticed noticeable weight loss and appetite control while using the drug. Side effects as noted above were occasionally noted, but were not severe enough for most to discontinue use. For those needing to loose 20 or more pounds this drug is worth consulting your physician about.
ThinJournal’s Rating: 8 out of 10.

phentermine hydrochloride
It’s also sold as Adipex-P, Fastin, Ionamin, Obenix, Obephen, Oby-Cap, Oby-Trim, Panshape M, Phentercot, Phentride, Pro-Fast HS, Pro-Fast SA, Pro-Fast SR, Teramine and Zantryl.

How it works:

It is approved as an appetite suppressant to help reduce weight in obese patients when used short-term and combined with exercise, diet, and behavioral modification. It is typically prescribed for individuals who are at increased medical risk because of their weight and works by helping to release certain chemicals in the brain that control appetite. Phentermine, in doses clinically used, works on the hypothalamus portion of the brain to release norepinephrine, a neurotransmitter or chemical messenger that signals a fight-or-flight response, reducing hunger. Phentermine works outside the brain as well to release epinephrine or adrenaline causing fat cells to break down stored fat, but the principal basis of efficacy is hunger-reduction.

Side Effects:

Generally, phentermine appears to be relatively well tolerated.[5] It can produce side effects consistent with its catecholamine-releasing properties, e.g., tachycardia (increased heart rate) and elevated blood pressure, but the incidence and magnitude of these appear to be less than with the amphetamines. Because phentermine acts through sympathomimetic pathways, the drug may increase blood pressure and heart rate. It may also cause palpitations, restlessness, and insomnia. Additionally, phentermine has the potential to cause physical and psychological dependence.

Effectiveness:

While there appear to be no clinical trials of the drugs effectiveness, users report benefits ranging from little to no help all the way to stunning results. The theme of all current reviews seems to be the side effects. As stated above the drug is an amphetamine and thus is habbit forming. While there are benefits to this drug, there appear to better options on the market with far less side effects. 3 out of 10.

The Hamptons Diet is a long-term wellness approach to eating that can be used as effectively as the Atkins or South Beach Diets for weight loss, but represents a uniquely better approach to long-term health and well-being.

The Hamptons Diet takes the best of the Mediterranean Diet and the best of controlled carbohydrate eating and puts them together in the context of whole foods

The Hamptons Diet is the most up to date of any healthy eating program with regard to the fat fraction, focusing not only on monounsaturates as the predominant fat source, but also looking at the balance and source of omega 3 and omega 6 fats in the diet.

The Hamptons Diet was created by Medical Doctor whose entire career has focused on nutritional medicine.

The Hamptons Diet can be summed up in one key sentence: Eat more vegetables, fish, and omega-3 fatty acids and consume most of your fats in the form of monounsaturates. Of course the devil is in the details, and the Hamptons Diet will show you how to actually incorporate these principles into your life so that you get thin and healthy and most important have fun.

The basic premise of the Hamptons Diet is to eat more vegetables, fish, and omega-3 fatty acids and to consume most of your fats in the form of monounsaturates, a premise shared by the Mediterranean diet. The primary monounsaturated fat that is used in the Mediterranean diet is olive oil. Modern science now knows of an oil that has even more monounsaturated fat than olive oil, up to 30 percent more monounsaturates: macadamia nut oil. The Hamptons Diet places a lot of emphasis on consuming the right kind of fats – specifically mono-unsaturated fats. Its creator has picked out Macadamia Nut oil as being the best cooking oil to use (rather than olive oil). He devotes an entire chapter to oils and fats. He is correct here – MacNut oil has a very high smoke point, a pleasant ‘buttery’ flavor, and is about 80% mono-unsaturated.

The Hamptons Diet contains some of the most up-to-date science available. A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in February 2004 by Dr. Christine Pelkman reported that moderate-fat diets rich in monounsaturated fats were better at reducing weight and lowering risk for cardiovascular disease, and they were easier to follow.
